Electric car registrations are up 33 percent

The electric car registrations of last year represent 1,076 units, which is an increase of 32.68% compared to 2013 when 811 units were sold, according to the Institute of Automotive Studies (IEA). Meanwhile, registrations of hybrid cars stood at 12,082 units last year, representing an increase of 18.2% compared to the 10,222 units a year earlier.

Commercial cars registrations raised to 155 units, compared to the nine units recorded in the same month last year. The small Renault Twizy has closed 2014 with 202 units, 4.6% higher than a year earlier, that happen because in December there were 15 registrations, 275% more than in the same month of 2013.

On Catalonia’s the name registrations are up to 281 units, the second region after Madrid with a figure of 325 units. The third is the Andalusian community with 109 units registered.

As for the hybrid cars, in December there were registered 1312 vehicles, 8.34% more. By region, in the year to date, Madrid led registrations, with 3,214 hybrid vehicles, having an increase of 14.01%, followed by Catalonia with 2,636 units and Andalusia with 2,220 units.[:]
