Following the success of other initiatives such as the Formula SAE in the United States or the Formula Student in Europe, this summer Barcelona will be organising an international competition for light electric scooters from 11 – 14 July.
In the tournament, students from different universities will compete to develop an officially validated, totally functional electric scooter. The objective of the competition is to give engineering and design schools the opportunity to work on an integrated project for the development of an electric scooter that will allow students to acquire group working skills and learn the good practices currently demanded by companies to help them access the labour market. On the other hand, for manufactures it represents a way of coming into contact with future professionals in the sector and a source of new ideas.
Once the participants have completed their projects they will be presented at the Parcmotor circuit in Castellolí (50 km from Barcelona) and dynamic tests will then be conducted in Barcelona. The prizes will be awarded in Paseo de San Juan (Barcelona) between 10:00 and 15.00 h.
Apart from Spanish universities such as IQS (Barcelona), ETSEIB- Escuela Elisava (Barcelona), Universidad Antonio de Nebrija (Madrid) and Universidad Europea de Madrid, other universities from countries such as Russia or Poland will be present.
