Free access to toll motorways: a new boost to sustainable mobility

On September 15th, the Regional Government of Catalonia’s Department for Territorial Affairs and Sustainability announced that pure electric vehicles would have free access to toll motorways. LIVE would like to pass on this information to all users wishing to take advantage of the benefits of an electric vehicle. With this in mind, we attach a series of questions and answers about the new measure.

Which toll motorways are free for electric vehicle users?
This measure will apply to the whole of the C-16 motorway, from Sant Cugat to Manresa, including the Vallvidrera tunnels; to the C-32 motorway, including both the Maresme and Garraf-Baix Penedès sections (Pau Casals motorway); and also to the tollbooths of the C-33 motorway at Mollet del Vallès.

I already have an electric vehicle. What do I have to do to benefit from this measure?
Electric vehicle users wishing to benefit from free access must possess an “ECO vehicle” air quality certificate, which they can get by registering on the EcoviaT portal. EcoviaT is a portal where drivers wishing to get a 30% discount on motorways (100% in the case of electric vehicles) can register low-emission vehicles, whether they use the viaT motorway payment system or not, and/or where authorization can be obtained to use the bus-VAO lane of the C-58 motorway.

What requirements must be met to get the discount?
– Type of vehicle: private car
– Vehicles registered in any EU Member State.

Technical requirements by fuel types:
– Pure electric vehicles
– Payment using the viaT system.
– Discount applicable from Mondays to Fridays (not including public holidays).

At LIVE, we continue to work tirelessly toward bringing electric vehicles to as many users as possible. We hope that these benefits can be extended to more electric vehicles.
