The World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) will take advantage of the World Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS27) which will be held in Barcelona on 20 November to present the E-Visionary awards to the three most sustainable cities in the world. These prizes, which recognise the effort made by the cities implicated in promoting and developing electric vehicles as a sustainable transport alternative, are awarded every 18 months. In the last edition of the EVS, the cities receiving the prizes were Los Angeles, Lisbon and Seoul.
The period for opting for the awards is still open, which means that the candidate cities have until 1 September to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to electric mobility and submit their long-term programmes to promote sustainable vehicles and reduce contaminant emission levels.
The number of electric vehicles currently operating in the candidate city, the number of charging points available or the legislation and inspection procedures established in relation to this type of vehicles are just some of the criteria to be taken into consideration by the jury when awarding the prizes to the winning cities.[:]
