The growing international concern for sustainable mobility is reflected in the increase in the number of quick charge stations for electric vehicles that has taken place during the past year. Particularly, in Japan, the United States and Europe, the number of CHAdeMO charge stations has risen from 1,003 to more than 2,100, and is expected to reach 4,000 by the end of this year. The most spectacular increase was in Europe, where the increase was from 158 stations to 601.
CHAdeMO chargers allow plug-in vehicles to recharge 80% of a partially discharged battery within 15 minutes and within 30 minutes if the battery is completely discharged, which offers greater comfort for the drivers of these vehicles. At present, 70,000 electric vehicles in the world are compatible with that charge system.
In addition to being a charger, CHAdeMO is an organisation formed by different leaders in the development of electric vehicles which are fighting to establish a single standard for quick chargers that will offer their owners more facilities and thus encourage more and more people to choose ecological mobility.[:]
