Last Sunday, the RACC and the European Commission, in conjunction with Applus+ Idiada and Barcelona City Council, presented the electric sports car VOLAR-e in Barcelona. This is the fastest Spanish-made electric vehicle in the world and is able to reach 300 km/h thanks to its four electric engines and 1,000 horsepower.
The VOLAR-e is also capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. With respect to the life of its battery, this depends on the driving mode that is used. In the racing mode, the battery is able to last for 50 kilometres without having to be recharged, but in the conventional driving mode, the vehicle battery can last for 180 kilometres.
The objective of the presentation, held last Sunday in Moll de la Fusta in Barcelona, was to bring electric mobility closer to the citizens of Barcelona. The 5,000 people attending the event were able to see for themselves what the VOLAR-e can do, and they were also given the opportunity to try out a series of electric vehicles (cars, motorbikes and cycles) loaned by different firms from the sector, in order to discover their advantages.
