The main objective of the Catalan government in the field of electric mobility is to achieve the electrification of the conventional automotive sector and for that it’s focusing its efforts in the construction of infrastructures and in the development of regulations and industrial policy and R&D necessary so that the demand is properly satisfied.
During 2013, it was achieved the number of 500 charging points for electric vehicles in 200 locations spread throughout Catalonia, 15 of those are quick recharge, therefore, the recharge of the vehicle batteries is done in just 30 minutes. Barcelona is the city that has the largest cargo facility, a percentage that increased to 65% of the whole autonomous region.
In what refers to sustainable vehicle users, Catalonia already has more than 1,000 drivers. During the last year have been counted 700 new registrations of electric bikes, 137 vehicles that are 100% electric and 2,357 hybrid vehicles.
The organization of the international event EVS27 and EXPOelèctric Fórmula-e, are hoping to highlight the attractiveness of Catalonia and its capital, Barcelona, to turn them into global benchmarks in sustainable mobility and at the same time an important business center for the industry of this sector.[:]
